Did you know? Oil palm is able to produce 10 times more oil per hectare of land, compared to other oil crops.

_

Research and development continue in the hope that palm oil production can be further increased, so that the output of 3 to 4 tonnes of palm oil fruit per hectare per year can be increased to 6 tonnes by the year 2020!

When oil palm trees grow old, they will be cut down and their trunks will be cut up and left to decompose. Decomposition will restore organic matter to the soil and complete the soil nutrient cycles. These trunks can also be made into furniture.
